On March 1, 2025, the SNU College was established
to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the University’s move to our current Gwanak Campus.
Launched to serve as a driving force to innovate our approaches to education, our focus lies in providing students with the educational foundation they will need to address the challenges of today’s rapidly changing landscape. This foundation will teach them to challenge themselves while remaining empathetic to others as they design their futures and lead their communities.
To prepare our students for this task, we provide a curriculum that aims to strengthen their core competencies and their ability to think from an interdisciplinary perspective. This ability to think beyond their disciplines will add depth to how students approach their majors and will ultimately stimulate innovation in their fields.
We realize, of course, that the educational experiences of university lie not only within the walls of the classroom. We thus strive to provide students with cross-cultural learning opportunities both here and abroad, and we also aim to develop a diversity of extracurricular programs that foster creativity, interpersonal skills, and experiential learning. These competencies are vital real world leadership skills, and we believe that cultivating them within our students is as important as preparing them for the unique paths that they wish to pursue.
The SNU College is also responsible for guiding students who have yet to declare their major and those who seek to pursue double majors, minors, and interdisciplinary majors. We also provide administrative support for interdisciplinary programs and lead initiatives that will aid in their development.
I warmly welcome all students, faculty members, and visitors to SNUC, and I look forward to working together to build a vibrant, forward-looking academic community.
