베리타스 강좌 1: 별

Veritas Lecture 1: Stars

본 강좌는 자연과학과 인문학의 학제간 융합 수업으로서, 별을 주제로 종교와 과학을 아우른 인류 문명의 전개를 천문학과 문화사의 관점에서 다각적으로 고찰한다. 수업의 대주제는 별과 관련된 시간과 공간, 우주론, 물질과 생명이다. 본 수업을 통해 학생들은 근현대 별의 관측을 통해 발전된 빅뱅 우주론과 고대의 우주창생신화를 비교하고, 과학적 우주론이 종교적 세계관에 가져온 변화가 무엇인지, 그리고 우주와 별에 대한 현대적 이해에 기반하여 정신과 물질, 외계생명체를 포함한 우주 차원의 생명에 대해 사색하고 토론하며 사고를 확장한다. 수업 시간에 이루어질 ‘별’과 ‘별자리’에 관한 다학제적 주제 토론은 인류의 지성과 영성, 물질과 정신, 생명과 우주의 진화에 대해 융합적으로 바라볼 수 있는 시각을 제공하며, 지구라는 별(행성)을 살아가는 현대인으로서 우주와 인간에 대해 도전적으로 질문하며 지평 전환을 경험할 수 있도록 도울 것이다.
