베리타스 강좌 1: 자유와 선택

Veritas Lecture 1: Freedom and Choice in an Era of Anxiety and Uncertainty

생존, 진로 선택, 타인과 관계 맺음의 측면에서 복합적인 불안과 불확실성의 상황에 놓인 한국 사회에서 서울대학교 학생들이 올바른 자유와 선택의 의미·가치를 각자의 사유를 통해서, 그리고 공동의 논의와 숙고를 통해서 익히게 하는 것이 본 교과목의 목표이다.
개인적 선호와 가치를 최대한 충족하고 행사하는 것이 자유이다’라는 오해를 불식하고, 타인의 처지와 입장을 고려하면서 개인적 선호들 및 가치들의 양립과 공존을 지향하는 사회적 선호(social preferences)의 형성과 보장이 자유의 핵심이라는 점을 문학과 심리학과 법철학의 측면에서 입체적으로 다룸으로써 인간에 대한 이해를 깊게 하고, 서울대학교 학생들이 타인의 입장을 고려하면서 개성을 자유로이 발현하는 성숙한 자유관을 갖출 수 있게 한다.
