Dear international students,

Let’s learn Korean language at the Language Education Institute (LEI), experience Korean culture, and go on a trip with your friends during the spring semester. It’s OK if you don’t know Korean at all. It’s also OK if you speak Korean well but lack writing skills. The LEI’s Korean program will teach you step-by-step from beginner to intermediate & advanced levels.In addition, SNU College will support all expenses for Korean language classes, cultural experiences, and field trips. * Eligibility:international undergraduate & graduate students (except for exchange/visiting students)

* Course Duration:March 3rd~ June 2nd, 2025 (14 Weeks)

* Course Description:

1) 10 hours a week (Mon/Wed 18:00~21:00, Fri 9:00~13:00)

2) Korean class: beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels + special classes on Fridays

3) Culture experiences: calligraphy, stamp carving, taekwondo, cooking classes, etc.

* Special activities:

1) SNU Buddies, who are SNU undergraduate students, will help you study Korean and live in Korea

2) SNU library tour with TAs

3) You can participate in a two-day long field trip to Gyeongju if you complete the Korean language class (attendance & grade 60% or higher)

* Korean class curriculum:

1) Beginner level:<I Love Korean 1 ~ 3>By learning the basic structures of Korean and Hangeul (Korean alphabet), you can develop the minimum communication skills necessary for your daily life.

Lv. 2	Famliy, refund, travel, hobbies, bank & post office, transportation, hospital, and phone calls
Lv. 3	Plans, inquiry, experiences, employment, health, broken, gatherings, change, and holidays

 

2) Intermediate level:<I Love Korean 4 ~ 6>You can develop communication skills necessary for various social activities.

Lv. 4	Information, meeting, consumption, regret, work life, accident, visiting a patient, anniversary, and future dreams
Lv. 5	Joys & sorrows, invitations & visits, health & exercise, memories & experiences, weather & climate, foods & recipes, reports & application, friends & lovers, and festivals & performances

3) Advanced level:<서울대 한국어 플러스(학문 목적)>You can learn to acquire Korean language skills necessary for research. This course incorporates a comprehensive study of Korean history and culture

Advanced Academic Class

How to write formal reports and other writings necessary for both undergraduate & graduate courses, Skills necessary to find materials and data through the use of books, dissertations, and the internet
